Who we are

Jahan Mobile Finance Pvt. Ltd. (“JMF”, “we”, “us”), Tumni Bazar, South Salmara, Assam 783127, India. We run the website jahanmobile.in and these apps:

  • JMF Partner: for mobile shops (retailers) that sell phones on EMI with JMF.
  • JMF Finance: for customers, to open and manage savings, deposits and loans with JMF.
  • The JMF device app: installed by the shop on a phone that is sold on EMI. It stays on that phone until the EMI is fully paid.

For any privacy question, write to admin@jahanmobile.in or call +91 96782 59925.

What we collect

Account and identityName, mobile number, address, date of birth and email, if given. Aadhaar and PAN numbers, photos of those documents, a live photo of you, and your signature.
Guarantor and nomineeIf you add a loan guarantor or a deposit nominee: their name, relation, contact details, address, ID numbers and document photos, and the guarantor’s signature. Please tell them you are sharing their details with us.
Loans, deposits and paymentsAccount numbers, amounts, EMI schedules, payments and receipts, deposits and withdrawals, late fees, agreements you sign, and passbook entries.
Phone on EMI (device app)The phone’s IMEI, model, SIM details (SIM serial, operator and phone number), whether the phone is locked, the list of installed apps, and battery and connection status. The phone’s location is taken only when JMF or the shop asks for it to find a phone with overdue EMIs.
Shops (Partner app)Shop name, owner details, address and GST number. Also the customers, phones and EMIs the shop records.
App and usageApp version, a notification token, and login records (time and device) used to keep accounts secure.

The apps use the camera only to take KYC photos and scan barcodes, when you tap to do so. JMF Finance takes ID photos with the live camera only, not from the gallery.

Why we use it

  • To check who you are (KYC) before opening an account, giving a loan or financing a phone, as Indian law requires.
  • To run your account: record payments, calculate EMIs, interest and late fees, and print agreements, passbooks and statements.
  • To secure a phone sold on EMI. If EMIs are overdue, the phone can be locked until payment is made. We get an alert if the SIM is changed or someone tries to reset the phone, and an unpaid phone can be located.
  • To send you one-time passwords (OTPs), payment reminders and service messages.
  • To prevent fraud, settle disputes and meet our legal and tax obligations.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

  • The shop that sold you the phone sees your details, your phone and your EMIs. Each shop sees only its own customers.
  • Service providers who work for us under contract: Google Cloud (our servers), Firebase Cloud Messaging (app notifications) and 2Factor (SMS one-time passwords).
  • Government and law enforcement, when the law requires it or a court orders it.

How we protect it

Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). KYC documents are stored outside the public website and can only be opened through short-lived signed links. Staff need their own login, and each shop is kept separate from every other shop.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account, loan, deposit or EMI is active. After it is closed, Indian law (including the Prevention of Money Laundering Act rules) requires us to keep KYC and transaction records for at least five years. After that we delete them. Information we are not required to keep is deleted when you ask.

Your choices and rights

  • See or correct your details: view them in the app, or ask us. Once KYC is submitted, only JMF can change it, so contact us to make a correction.
  • Delete your account: email admin@jahanmobile.in. See Delete your account for what is deleted and what we must keep.
  • Withdraw consent: you can withdraw your consent at any time. We may then be unable to keep a loan, deposit or EMI running, and amounts you owe stay payable.
  • Complaints: email us first. We aim to reply within 7 working days.

Phones sold on EMI

When you buy a phone on EMI, you agree in your finance agreement that the JMF device app is installed and cannot be removed until the last EMI is paid. While EMIs are due, the app can block a factory reset and lock the phone if payments are overdue. When you pay the final EMI, the phone is released automatically and the app can be removed.

Incoming text messages are checked on the phone for one thing only: signed JMF commands (they start with “JMF”) that lock or unlock the phone when it has no internet. Other messages are ignored, and none are uploaded. The device app does not read your photos, files, contacts or call history. From the lock screen, you can call the shop directly.

Children

Our services are for adults aged 18 and over. A deposit may name a minor as nominee, with an adult appointee. In that case we hold the minor’s name, date of birth and relation only.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new date. For important changes, we will also tell you in the app.
